Bonsai Notebook NO MEETING IN JUNE Our regular meeting on June 14 has been cancelled so that our members can support and attend the Descanso Bonsai Society annual show and reception on that date. 

Bonsai Notebook Our May program will provide an opportunity to get expert help working on one of your own trees.  Roy Nagatoshi will be here again to work individually with members on their tree while we watch and learn. 

Bonsai Notebook John Nielson will be with us for a demonstration at the April Meeting. He is a licensed arborist and has 30 years experience with bonsai. As an arborist, John is certified in pest management, irrigation systems and tree injection.

Bonsai Notebook Jim Barrett will be our presenter at the March 8th meeting.  Involved in bonsai for more than 50 years, Jim has participated in the growth and development of the bonsai art throughout Southern California and around the country.

Bonsai Notebook Our February meeting program will feature Al Nelson. Al provides a very entertaining and informative demonstration.  With the assistance of the helpers he brings, there will, no doubt, be many things going on at the same time.

Bonsai Notebook Annual Holiday Potluck Dinner Please bring a salad, fruit dish, or dessert. The club will provide the main dish. Bring bonsai related items for the raffle, so we can continue to have our biggest raffle of the year.

Bonsai Notebook Kathy Benson will be with us at the November meeting to share her styling talents. Kathy brings an extensive art background into her bonsai work. Bonsai Notebook We welcome back Marcus Juniel as our October presenter.  Marcus has been involved in bonsai since the 1990’s.  He has studied with Harry Hirao, Ted Matson, David Nguy, Roy Nagatoshi, and Jung Soo Kim from Korea.  Marcus is known for his work on conifers including California junipers, shimpaku junipers

September Meeting Reminder Don’t forget about our club meeting on September 14th, 2013 at the LA Arboretum.  Harry Hirao, “Mr. California Juniper”, will be joining us to do a demonstration for us.  Harry is well known for being an expert on California Juniper and has collected and styled tree like the one depicted here.
