July Meeting & Demo
A concert at the Arboretum on our regular July meeting date necessitates an alternative site which we have been doing for several years now.
Thanks to the generosity of Peter and Marissa Macasieb, we will meet at their residence in West Covina on Saturday July 12.
The meeting will start an hour earlier at 6:00pm, so we will have more daylight for our outdoor meeting.
This is a popular meeting every summer because we have the opportunity to see Peter’s amazing collection of bonsai, and also be treated to a demonstration by Peter.

June Meeting Highlights
We had Mitch Matsey as our demonstrator for the first time at our June meeting.
Mitch brought several varieties of ficus trees from his collection and talked about the care and development of ficus material in general.
Then he created a group-planting using shohin size ficus trees.
He used a metal mesh covering the bottom of his pot to give him the ability to anchor his trees exactly where he wanted to place them.
Mitch talked about the importance of tree placement to create a pleasing group (forest), and his work provided a very nice result.
Kelly Lui was the lucky eventual raffle winner of Mitch’s bonsai forest.
