There has been a change of plan for our September club meeting. The meeting will not be held at the home of Steve and Judy Anthony as planned. Instead, David and June Nguy have offered to host us at their home in Chino. Ted Matson will still be our demonstrator for the evening as previously announced. The below is sad news to those of us that have been in Bonsai for many years. Bruce and Yaeko were always very active in the Bonsai community and when ever they attended a Kofu meeting were very generous. Bruce has not been active for many years due to age related illnesses but was always a great host when visiting him at home. Bruce and Yaeko were long-time members of our club. He will be missed. This year will be our 52nd Annual Bonsai Show! Our show will be Memorial Day weekend, May 28, 29, and 30 at the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden. The show will be held Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 9:00AM to 4:30PM daily. Demonstrations will begin each day at 1:00PM. There will also be bonsai trees, pots, tools, and related items for sale. As I write this, news is spreading of the passing of Harry Hirao at 98 years of age. Harry has meant so much to the bonsai world, particularly in southern California. He has touched us all with his talent and tremendous energy throughout his wonderful, long life. Continue reading
Our annual show will be Memorial Day weekend, May 24, 25, and 26. We will do set-up on Friday at 1:00pm at Ayres Hall. The more people we have for set-up, the faster it goes. Bring your show tree and display with you, and you will be able to pick your spot after set-up. Continue reading
