September Meeting & Workshop
Our September 13 meeting will be at the LA Arboretum at 7:00pm.

Our guest will be Jason Chan, who always provides a great evening of bonsai for us.
Jason will direct us through a workshop involving all of us using elm tree material.
We will be split into groups of about five people so bring some basic tools and participate in styling a tree. If you are new to Bonsai this will be a unique opportunity to learn from Jason & others in your group.
Jason will provide trees for each group, and he will lead us through the steps to style the trees.
All the trees will be in the raffle.
Jason is an outstanding teacher, so you can all look forward to a fun learning experience and a chance to take home a new tree.
See you there.
August Highlights

The August meeting gave everyone a chance to see David and June Nguy’s wonderful bonsai collection along with the Tea House, the rabbits, and the turtles.
David provided a nice Itoigawa juniper for his demonstration. He engaged the members to help pick a front for the tree and also decide a style for the design.
We agreed the tree wanted to be a slant style bonsai, and David went to work.

June graciously assisted with wiring throughout the demo.
David talked about and demonstrated wiring techniques as he worked.
He also wrapped the tree with raffia for some big bends.
Mr. Farn jumped up to help hold the tree for the hard bending.
The end result was a beautiful new bonsai in the slant style.
As usual, a masterful job by David.
It was only right that Mr. Farn was the lucky raffle winner of the tree.

“Thanks” to our generous members, we had a bountiful raffle table, and many members took home bonsai treasures.
“Thank you” again to both David and June for their gracious hospitality and for making the meeting an enjoyable experience for all of us.
