Oct Meeting Highlights

Our October return to the Arboretum featured Ken Bross, “The Barefoot Woodworker”, who brought a large collection of his bonsai display stands for us to see.
Ken explained his process for the woodworking that went into the structure of the stands and showed individual stand pieces that were interchangeable by design.
Members were asked to bring in trees that could be matched up with stands to create a show display.
Ken had stands in a variety of wood types, and the members enjoyed seeing trees on different stands and picking favorite combinations.
For those members interested, stands could be ordered in the size and material of their choosing, to be delivered in time for our May show.

Ken donated one of his stands to our raffle, and Anthony was the lucky winner of the stand.
A very nice juniper bonsai was donated to the raffle table by Mike, along with several cork-bark elms brought by Ray.

Thanks to all the raffle donors. Our members always enjoy the surprises that show up each month.
Thank you again to Ken for an enjoyable evening presentation.

~ Dave
