Welcome to 2025

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that you are ready for a great new year.

Date: Saturday January 11, 2025

Time: 6pm

Location: LA Arboretum, Palm Room

The SABS January 11 meeting at the Arboretum will begin at 6:00pm, and it will be our annual potluck dinner.  The club will provide the main dish (El Polo Loco Chicken) and water, and we ask that everyone bring their favorite appetizer, side dish, salad or dessert to share. 

This meeting is the beginning of our 2025 Annual Membership Sign ups. Please consider joining SABS for 2025 to help support our club activities and events. Annual dues are: $20 for individuals and $25 for Family

Our entertainment will consist of games of bonsai bingo.  We had fun with the bingo games last year and we look forward to another enjoyable evening with friends and food.  We will play many bingo rounds with a lot of winners.  So, instead of a raffle, please bring an item for the bingo games that you would like to win. Bonsai- related items for the table might be: trees, pots, tools, soil, wire etc. More items mean more fun for all!

Highlights from November 2024

Our meeting year ended with the November 9 meeting where Robert Hoogeveen was our guest demonstrator.  Robert worked on a nursery grown procumbens nana that was a typical low-spreading, ground cover material.  Using wire and a lot of bending, he styled it into a beautiful informal upright tree. 

As a good teacher of the bonsai art, Robert explained what he was doing with the tree throughout the demonstration and ended with a well designed tree.  Dave Miles was the lucky winner of Robert’s tree in the raffle.
